Handwerk
Centre is a vocational training centre, which is a joint
project of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri
Lanka, National Construction Association of Sri Lanka and the Handwerkskammer Koblenz, Germany. The project was funded by
the Royal Netherlands Embassy Colombo, German State of Rhineland Pfalz,
German Federal Government and Handwerkskammer Koblenz Germany.
The Centres, are situated
at Dodangoda Road, Malegoda, Payagala in the Kalutara District in the
Western Province as well
as in Thirukkovil, the Eastern Province in the Ampara District of Sri Lanka. The Handwerk Centre predominantly offers training for those willing to
pursue career in the construction industry. It also offers opportunities
for those who are already employed in the industry to develop post
employment skills upgrading. In addition the center offers customized
training programs to meet the needs of companies who wish to develop
their employees to meet the company needs.
Through the membership
of the National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL) and the
Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL)
the center is also geared to offer/recommend local as well as foreign
employment opportunities.
